The concept of Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) has been in existence for over 20 years and yet addressing challenges surrounding the key EPM processes (planning, forecasting, consolidation, reporting and analytics) remain one of the highest priorities for CFO’s and CIO’s. The conclusion must be that efforts to address EPM processes and systems have not always been successful or addressed the key business challenges. Our observation is that EPM projects have been taking too long to deliver, have been held back by end user adoption and performance issues and corporate management have expected too much too quickly, forgetting that effective EPM needs organisational and skills changes as well as process changes and effective systems implementation and integration.
